MIAB offers a comprehensive medical professional liability policy which also includes public liability insurance, including bodily injury and property damage. The public liability aspect covers events not in the medical malpractice domain such as slip and trip (a spilt coffee for example causing a patient to injure him or herself). 

 

Moreover as the cover is on an individual basis it covers the insured working for more than one employer for example on a locum basis.

 

The policy is underwritten by CNA Europe, an insurance company which offers specialist malpractice and related coverage(s), and in addition to public liability offers several valuable and possibly unique features.

 

These include Death Disability and Retirement Run-Off Cover which extends the time allowed to report a claim, as does in a similar vein Maternity Claims Reporting Cover.

 

Potentially distressing events such as being pursued for false detention or wrongful eviction of a patient are also covered, as is the criminal prosecution defence costs incurred in Proceedings alleging breach of the Corporate Manslaughter and Corporate Homicide Act.
