What Is Covered Under MIAB's Practice Expenses Plan

The Medical Insurance Advisory Bureau (MIAB) aims to provide a unique, bespoke Locum/Practice Expenses insurance policy for the UK medical profession. What is and is not covered is detailed below:

What will I be covered for?

You will be covered for
* accidents occurring anywhere in the world and
* illness arising anywhere in the world.

What are the exclusions?

The full range of exclusions is shown in the standard Certificate of Insurance
In summary, they are:
* taking part in aeronautics - (as a pilot)
* self-inflicted injury
* war
* radioactive contamination
* HIV/AIDS unless caused by needlestick injury and STD's

Please note that there is no automatic exclusion for anxiety, stress or depression.

For how long is the Sum Insured paid?

The Sum Insured will be paid for as long as the insured person remains temporarily totally unable to work, up to a maximum of 52 weeks including the excess period. If he or she returns to work before the end of this period, the payments will cease.
